Mission / Focus

Protecting, Preserving and Enjoying the Forever Wild Places!

The Binghamton Chapter of the ADK provides members, their families, and guests opportunities to help protect, preserve, and enjoy the Forever Wild places while fostering friendships. The Chapter accomplishes this through educational programs, conservation and advocacy initiatives, and outing events. Our interest is in not only the Adirondacks but also locally, in the Catskills, and globally.

Educational Programs include:

  • Informative and educational events of interest to the membership
  • How to, Show, Tell & Share instructional sessions
  • Hands-on, Out-of-Doors Workshops

Conservation & Advocacy Initiatives include:

  • Stewardship actions like Leave No Trace, Carry In - Carry It Out, and others.
  • Advocacy initiatives pursuant to acid rain, mercury pollution, global warming and the like.
  • Participation in "Adopt a Lean-to" and trail maintenance efforts.

Outing Events include (but are not limited to):

  • Hiking
  • Mountain Hiking
  • Backpacking
  • Car & Canoe Camping
  • Paddling
  • Snowshoeing
  • Cross-Country & Back-Country Skiing
  • Geocaching
  • Letterboxing
  • Birding

Monthly Meeting Information

The Binghamton Chapter ADK meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Chenango Town Hall, 1529 State Route 12, Binghamton, NY. The meeting is held in their Community Room.

The typical meeting agenda is:

7:00pm Meeting starts
7:00 - 7:20pm Business meeting
7:20 - 8:00pm Program, such as a presentation on an outing, an education session on winter backpacking, etc.
8:00pm Meeting adjourns





The room is equipped with a TV with projection capabilities, to which members may hook up a laptop for presentations and discussions.
